How might we create the mobile app for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt (GISH)?

GISH, formerly known as Gishwhes (the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen), is a global scavenger hunt that holds a Guinness World Record for being the largest media scavenger hunt ever conducted. Played in over 100 countries, teams of 15 participants earn points by submitting photos and videos of themselves completing prompts from a list provided at the beginning of the week.
Role
iOS & Android UX/UI Design
What are we solving for?
Despite its global reach and large participant base, GISH lacked a centralized platform for team communication and collaboration before, during, and after the hunt. Participants faced challenges in discovering local teammates, forming teams, and maintaining effective communication throughout the event.
Objective
Develop and launch a mobile app enabling participants (“Gishers”) to discover other local Gishers, form teams, and communicate through a fully functional messaging system. By enabling geotargeting, interested participants could more effortlessly find and join local teams and more immediately engage with other Gishers.
